The Trip in a Nutshell

Discover the roots of Taiwanese culture with our 4-day, 3-night immersive family learning journey in Penghu.

This is more than just a vacation; it's a Cultural deep dive, designed to bridge the generational gap and connect your English-speaking children to their heritage. We bypass typical tourist routes (no night squid fishing or snorkeling) to dive deep into authentic island life, exploring the wisdom of the sea and the traditions of the fishing villages.

Through hands-on experiences—from traditional fishing techniques to island-hopping to geological wonders—your family will create a shared, unforgettable "island memory" that truly defines where your story begins.

Find Identity. Forge Connection.

Itinerary

DAY 1 - Arrival & West Coast Immersion (Fri, June 26)

Families are advised to arrive in Taiwan before Friday. You have two options for reaching the island on June 26th:

  1. Group Ferry Transfer: Take the High-Speed Rail (HSR) to Chiayi Station and join the group for a coordinated transfer to Budai Port for the ferry to Magong.

  2. Self-Arranged Flight: Book a domestic flight to Magong Airport (MZG), ensuring you arrive before 11:00 AM.

Upon arrival, and following a shared island lunch, our cultural journey begins with a deep dive into Penghu’s vibrant marine ecosystem at the Penghu Aquarium. Our itinerary then shifts to a scenic drive across the iconic Cross-Sea Bridge (跨海大橋). We deepen our cultural immersion at the traditional Erkan Historical Village (二崁古厝聚落), where we observe the beautiful Minnan-style architecture and local traditions. The afternoon transitions seamlessly to relaxation and play at Nei'an Beach (內垵沙灘), where families can enjoy the shallow waves and soft sand. The day concludes with a hearty local dinner.

Please note: If you choose to book your own domestic flights, we will deduct $50 per person from the total trip price.

DAY 2 - Tidal Wisdom & Island Hopping Adventure (Sat, June 27)

Our day begins with a deep dive into local heritage as we immerse ourselves in the shallow tidal flats for the hands-on traditional Lu Yu Zai (櫓魚栽) fishing experience. This unique activity teaches the delicate, sustainable techniques of collecting fish fry, directly linking our families to the islanders' profound wisdom for the ocean. Following this, we engage in a Community Engagement Session with a guided tour, offering insights into local renewal efforts and contemporary island life.

We then transition to relaxation with some free time at Aimen Beach (隘門沙灘), followed by a delightful picnic lunch box near the picturesque Lintou Beach (林投沙灘).

In the afternoon, we embark on our Island exploration trip by ferry to two significant outposts: Tongpan Islet (桶盤嶼) and Huxing Islet (虎井嶼). Huxing has been noted globally as one of the world's "Ten Secret Islands", lending an air of mystery to our visit. In Tongpan, we encounter the magnificent columnar basalt formations—a spectacular geological sight. During our exploration, we will take a moment to savor the local delicacy: cactus ice cream. The day concludes with a warming lemon and herb hot pot dinner.

Day 3: Deep Sea Culture & Heritage Survival Skills (Sun, June 28)

We start the day with an exciting physical challenge designed for bonding: the Cross-Island Kayak. This morning adventure allows families to physically connect with the pristine waters, paddling together across the stunning island seascape. Lunch is a local specialty cuisine experience, where we savor authentic Penghu flavors.

The afternoon marks a crucial part of our cultural deep dive as we join the experts from the "Outlying Island Walkout" (離島出走) team to focus on traditional fishing and survival methods. We will explore the iconic Stone Weir (石滬) and learn the ancient technique of Hugging Trap Fishing (抱墩探索). Families will also gain hands-on experience with the Fishing Kettle (漁灶體驗)—learning the traditional ways local fisherfolk process their catch. This comprehensive afternoon session brings ancient wisdom to life. The day concludes with a well-deserved dinner.

DAY 4 – Roots, Reflection, & The Heart of the Program (Mon, June 29)

Our final morning is dedicated to revisiting the historical and cultural roots of Magong. We start with a guided tour of the Magong Ancient City, walking through centuries of history. We visit Duxing Tenth Village (篤行十村), one of Taiwan's oldest military dependents' villages, and the literary haven of the Yan-Ju Independent Bookstore (沿菊獨立書店).

The highlight of our entire journey follows: the Family Seminar and Exchange. This dedicated session is a powerful space for families to reflect on their identity journey, share insights, and cement the meaning of their cultural return.

We conclude the journey with two departure options:

  1. Group Ferry Transfer: Gather at the Magong Port Service Building for the coordinated ferry trip back to Budai Port in Chiayi.

  2. Self-Arranged Flight: For those flying out on their own, please ensure your domestic flight departs at or after 4:00 PM to allow sufficient time for transfer and check-in.

Families depart carrying with us a new, rooted sense of identity.
